What are lash extensions?

Eyelash Extensions are individual strands of synthetic fibers made to replicate a natural eyelash. When applied, eyelash extensions lengthen and thicken your own natural eyelashes. The single strands are applied to each individual eyelash, one by one or groups of thinner lashes. With proper application, lash extensions look and feel completely natural.

How long do they last?

When applied by one of our artists, eyelash extensions will last the length of the natural growth cycle of your own eyelashes. Depending on your activity and day-to-day routine, refills should only be required every 2 to 4 weeks.

How do I care for my lashes?

Taking care of your lashes is simple. Use an oil-free makeup remover and/or facial cleanser to remove makeup and wash your face as normal. Lashes can also be cleansed using lash shampoo 1-2x per week depending on your activities and then brushed with a clean mascara wand daily to comb lashes into place. Growth serums are fine to apply but avoid oil-based products, hot steam/saunas or rubbing the eye lash areas that may loosen adhesive bonds or cause lashes to break loose.

What if I want a “natural” look?

You pick your look and lash intensity. During your free consultation, your lash stylist will work with you to understand what type of style you are interested in and what look will work best with your natural lashes. The type of lashes you can apply all depends on the length and strength of your natural lashes. The overall look of the lashes can range from very natural to very voluminous! Lash lifts and/or lash tint are other great options for those that want a enhanced natural look without extensions. You can refer to our Service Menu for more looks and inspo!

What if I work out and sweat a lot?

Not a problem! Lashes are a great option for those with active lifestyles. Eyelashes are waterproof and you can workout and even shower right after lashes are applied. However, keeping away from extensive contact with steam such as in saunas or certain facials is not recommended since it can begin to loosen the bond.

Do I still need mascara?

Nope! Our eyelash extensions are designed to give your natural lashes the enhanced look you want without the running, clumping or headache of mascara. Your lashes will look fuller, darker and longer all day, everyday. 

If you do decide to wear mascara, make sure you use oil-free makeup remover and be gentle, otherwise it may cause lashes to fall out. You must not use any oil-based products around your lashes, as this may break down the adhesive that keeps the lashes intact.

Avoid waterproof mascara completely as this can ruin your lash extensions and will be very hard to get off, resulting in lashes falling out prematurely. 

Do eyelash extensions ruin your natural lashes?

There is a myth that eyelash extensions may ruin your natural lashes. However, when lashes are professionally applied using high quality glue, products and the client continues to look after them, there will be no damage.

Is the LED light used in application safe?

Our state-of-the-art LED application system is not only safe but effective. The Aura Monaco Beamlight system used has been tested over 2 years in cooperation with external testing laboratories and is 100% safe for the human eye and skin. It is a German system, where safety standards are amongst the highest in the world, and it complies with all current global standards and requirements. The device is CE and FDA certified and complies with Australian Standards. The LED technology itself is not new, and has been used in the dental and nail industries for many years – but has been adapted now for eyelash extensions.
